Web Shell allows you to execute shell commands directly
from your browser. It is useful if you don't have shell access to a
server.
The Web Shell requirements are as follows:
- Unix-based HTTP server.
- Perl 5.0 or above.
Gamma Web Shell has the following key features:
- Easy installation and configuration.
- Tracking of the current directory.
- Browse mode with a directory listing.
- Restricted mode with a custom set of commands.
To install the software you need to do the following steps:

Unpack the downloaded archive.
It contains the WebShell directory with all the files.

You may need to change the path to the perl executable in the first
line of the WebShell.cgi script.
The default path is /usr/bin/perl.

Edit the configuration variables in WebShell.cgi.
You should change the password and you may want to set up the
restricted mode.

Upload the WebShell directory to your site cgi-bin
directory or to any other directory where you can run cgi scripts.

Set executable permission to WebShell.cgi.
You can do it by executing the chmod a+x WebShell.cgi from
the shell or using your FTP client.

Open WebShell.cgi in your browser.
Enter the password.
Now you may execute shell commands and browse directories.
